Tampa No Match For Bruins
Boston played a very good game last night and it really reminded me of last seasons team and how hard they where to play against. There hasnt been much sucsess as of late at the barn on Causeway street, but it changed last night. Marc Savard who just signed a 7 year contract extension got the first goal somehow putting the puck by Smith from behind the net. A few minutes later Chara shot a puck from the point that was stoned by Smith but a rebound right to Bergeron and it was 2-0 Bruins. The Bruins had several scoring chances through the 2nd but couldnt find the back of the net but Marco Sturm would score 2 goals in about 2 minutes late in the 2nd. Bruins up 4-0, a big suprise it was they where finally playing the way they should be playing. Jeff Halpern scored Tampas lone goal on the night to make it 4-1, which is how it would end. Tim Thomas was absolutely great tonight stopping 39 of 40 Tampa Bay shots and shutting down the Bolts. It was a little strange to see the Bruins defense let up so many shots ill admit but Tim Thomas did the job and the Bolts didnt get a lot of great scoring chances. Now Dennis Wideman had been playing better of late but Barry Peterson picked him to be a gamebreaker on Nesn last night and he was not at all. He finished with a -1 and had no shots. He needs to stay consistent. Right now the Bruins have a great thing going for them 2 hot goaltenders. Last year when the Bruins took of and won something like 20 out of 23 one of the main reasons was Tim Thomas and Manny Fernandez bothing playing great. And now it seems the Bruins are taking off again with a 6-0-1 record in their last 7 games. Key to the sucsess? Tim Thomas and Tuukka Rask. I think the Bruins did a great job bringing up young goaltender Tuukka Rask. They gave him a few years down in the AHL didnt make the mistake of having to bring him up to soon they did bring him up for about 7 starts in 2 seasons but thats about it. And its really paid off for them no doubt. The Bruins did a great job of going to the net on Wednesday because guess what all 4 goals scored right around the net. Savard from behind the net, Bergeron got the rebound, sturm kept digging to get one, and they hit Sturm on a tip in as well. The Bruins added another powerplay goal as well, the powerplay is really improving. The puzzle pieces are starting to fall in place now and we got the Habs coming up on Friday
Win 4 -1

Bruins Top Sens 4-3 SO
Well it was certaintly an exciting game and the Bruins went to the shootout for the 3rd game in a row. And unlike Friday came out on top of the Senators 4-3 in the shootout. The game started out bad the first shot beat Tim Thomas who made his first start in 2 weeks. The Bruins would then go down 2-0 midway through the period. But David Krejci scored a brilliant powerplay goal to make it 2-1. And then Ryder on the powerplay would find the net with traffic in front. Dennis Wideman put a screen shot by Elliot midway through the 3rd to give Boston the lead. Its over right? Nope not even with at least 3 chances at the empty netter the Sens come back and put a weak goal through Tim Thomas. And it would go to a shootout with Mike Ryder getting the only goal to win it for the Bruins in 4 rounds. Tim Thomas played much better in the shootout to redeem himself stoning 4 ottawa shooters. The big story was the Bruins powerplay woke up and went 3 for 5 in the game a big improvement. The Bruins play the lighting on Wednesday

Bruins Lose in SO
Devils 2 - 1

| FINAL SO | 1 | 2 | 3 | OT | SO | T |

| Bruins | 0 | 0 | 1 | 0 | 0 (1-3) | 1 |
BOSTON (AP) -New Jersey goaltender Martin Brodeur couldn't think about becoming the NHL's all-time minutes leader once the clock was turned off. He had a little extra work to do.
Jamie Langenbrunner and Zach Parise scored shootout goals to make Brodeur a winner on the day he broke the record in the Devils' 2-1 win over the Boston Bruins on Friday.
Brodeur surpassed Hall of Famer Patrick Roy for the most minutes played after the puck was dropped to open the third. The 37-year-old Brodeur now has 60,280. Roy played 60,235.
After sending the game to OT with a stop on Marc Savard's wrister from the slot in the closing seconds of regulation, Brodeur made a left pad save on Patrice Bergeron and cut down the angle with a pad stop on David Krejci in the shootout.
"I totally forgot about it until they put it on the scoreboard. I knew it coming into the game, a lot of people brought it to my attention," Brodeur said. "They (records) are nice. Now this one's over and we'll move on and try and get another one somehow."
The PA announcer acknowledged Brodeur becoming the all-time minutes leader during a stoppage before a faceoff 2:56 into the second period. The announcement continued as play began in the Devils' zone.
The loss snapped Boston's season-high four-game winning streak.
"At the end of the game I thought we had a lot of good chances. We were hoping we could squeak one in there to get the game-winner," Bruins coach Claude Julien said.
Blake Wheeler, who had Boston's only goal in regulation, had the Bruins' lone score in the shootout.
With the shootout tied 1-1 after Parise's and Wheeler's goals, Langenbrunner beat goaltender Tuukka Rask between the pads.
"He kind of was biting on that first shot a little bit. First move, I guess," Langenbrunner said.
Wheeler scored 12 seconds into the third period for Boston, tying it 1-all and ending Brodeur's bid to tie Terry Sawchuk's NHL record of 103 shutouts.
Parise had the Devils' only goal in regulation, extending his point streak to a career-high nine games. He has eight goals and six assists in that stretch.
The Devils have won all 10 times this season when they led entering the third period.
Rask made 36 saves before the shootout. Brodeur had 32.
New Jersey moved ahead 1-0 on Parise's goal midway through the second period. He scored from a scramble in front when he whacked at the puck twice, slipping it by Rask's left pad. Matt Halischuk had his first assist of the season on the play.
Boston tied it when Wheeler scored on the first shift of the third period, ending any suspense about Brodeur reaching Sawchuk's record. Wheeler one-timed Byron Bitz's pass from the bottom of the left circle.
Brodeur made his game-saving glove stop on Savard with five seconds to play in regulation.
"I got it off good," Savard said. "I think I got him under the arm a bit. I knew I didn't have much time on the clock."
Devils winger David Clarkson was helped to the locker room after taking Zdeno Chara's shot off his right ankle. The Devils were already missing two defensemen: Paul Martin, sidelined for his 14th straight with a broken arm, and Johnny Oduya, out for his 12th consecutive game with a lower body injury.
NOTES: Boston LW Milan Lucic will be sidelined up to four weeks with a sprained left ankle sustained when his skate got caught in a rut during Wednesday's shootout win against Minnesota. "He will probably be out for around four weeks. It could be less," GM Peter Chiarelli said before the game. "When I saw the injury happen, you look at the stress on the lower knee and the ankle, I certainly expected worse." ... The Bruins had no shots on goal in their three power plays in the first two periods. New Jersey had two while short-handed. ... The Devils are in a stretch of 10 of 12 at home. Their only other road game is in Buffalo on Dec. 7. ... It was the opener of a day-night, hockey-basketball pro doubleheader tradition. The Celtics were scheduled to play Toronto at night.

Bruins Top Wild 2-1 In SO
Hey everyone it was a busy thanksgiving weekend so didnt get to write updates for the games. Im trying to get caught up now so heres basically what happened. Byron Bitz scored the opening goal of the game, and the Wild tied it in the 2nd. The wild really outplayed the Bruins for much of the game but Tuukka Rask weathered the storm for the Bruins got it to the shootout and David Krejci scored the shootout winner for a 2-1 win at the Wild

Bruins Beat Buffalo In OT 2-1
Two wins in a row? Wow for only the second time all year the Boston Bruins have won 2 games in a row. The Bruins won a hard fought physical battle with the Buffalo Sabres 2-1 in overtime. Patrice Bergeron redirected Zdeno Chara's wrister past Ryan Miller 47 seconds into overtime. I believe the Bruins first overtime goal since October of last year wow. Since then we had seen goals from such people as Alex Semin, Scott Walker, Randy Jones possibly a few others one or two more, I cant remember all the overtime goals. But anyways the Bruins played very well again to pick up the win. They went down early when Paul Gaustad deflected Buffalo's only goal of the night past Tuukka Rask. The Bruins would tie the game on great efforts by Byron Bitz, and Milan Lucic. Lucic would put the puck by Miller for his first goal of the season and tying the game at one. And there would not be another goal until overtime. But it was a very physical battle between the teams, and the goaltenders where excellent. The Bruins powerplay slumped again, not scoring at all on the night. They had there chances on the man advantage but Ryan Miller was shut down. Milan Lucic played well again for the 2nd game since coming back, and the Bruins did really miss his physical game while he was gone. Still no Savard in the line-up but he was expected to try to give it another go on Monday night in St. Louis.1st star of the game for the Bruins had to be Tuukka Rask as he stopped 25 of 26 shots Friday night. The Sabres cant be to upset with themselves with the loss, they did take a point out of tough game, and their record goes to 12-5-2 which I didnt see coming at the beginning of the year. Good win for the Bruins last night, and Monday they will travel to play the struggling Blues. Looking for a 3rd straight win
Bruins Steal One In Atlanta

So the Bruins win, finally! Also the return of Milan Lucic as well. The Bruins defeated the Atlanta Thrashers 4-3 in the shootout. Tuukka Rask got the start in net for the Bruins and made 32 stops in the win. It was questionable if the Bruins where going to get that win as Atlanta tied the game with 41 seconds to go, NOT AGAIN. I dont know about any of you but i was furious when that happened, and I thought oh yeah ive read this book before, late goal, go to overtime, Bruins lose. But not last night. Milan Lucic played very strong for Boston, and also suprising as it is, a pretty good game for Dennis Wideman with 2 assists. Mike Ryder seemed to bust out of his slump with 2 key goals giving him 6 on the season. Marco sturm also tallied the other Bruins goal. Tuukka was strong, the breakout out of the zone was strong as well. I know what a lot of people are saying, we win 4-3 against Atlanta in a shootout what the hell? But this isnt the same Atlanta team they are much improved and hold a 10-6-2 record so far this year. And the Bruins played strong last night they really did, I cant complain about to much. They gave up the goal to Afinogenov with 41 seconds left but it was a bad rebound off the blocked shot oh well. We got the 2 points thats all that matters and tonight we play Buffalo so lets go Miller is going to be tough and its not going to be easy.
Bruins Give Up Late Lead Lose 6-5 OT

So it took me a long time to write anything about this, because I still couldnt believe it. A broken stick in the final seconds of the game cost the Bruins 2 points and a regulation victory over the Penguins. Patrice Bergerons stick breaks as the Bruins try to protect a one goal lead with seconds remaining. Malkin then picked the puck up fed it to Guerin who beat Tim Thomas with .4 seconds left in the game. St. Louis Blues anyone? A very similar thing occured last season as the Blues beat Tim Thomas with a rebound goal with .1 seconds left in that game. The Bruins went on to lose that game, and they would lose last night. Pascal Dupuis scored the game winner on another questionable play by Thomas. Tim Thomas and Bruins fans where brought down to earth last night. As Tim Thomas had been sensational as of late and going into last night he had back to back shutouts, including one against the Pens. A minute 42 into this game the Bruins found themselves trailing, as Jay Mckee's back hand found its way by Tim Thomas. The Bruins came back however with a Wheeler wristshot 8:29 into the 1st tying the game. All night long it would go like that. The Penguins would take the lead and the Bruins would keep battling back to tie it. It finally seemed like it might be to late when Mark Eaton struck 9 minutes into the 3rd period for the Penguins, giving them a 4-3 lead. But no the Bruins where not done yet as David Krejci scored with 5:47 left to tie the game. It seemed like the Bruins where destined for another OT finish. But Zdeno Chara followed up Krejci's goal with a blast of his own that deflected off Marco Sturm and found its way to the back of the net. All of a sudden Boston was leading 5-4 with 2:29 to go in the game. But it was not to be as Guerin ties it with .4 seconds left, and Pascal Dupuis would beat Thomas a little more then a minute into OT. The Bruins had several chances to take both points, as Begin and Paille both missed empty net chances, and Bergerons shattered stick cost the Bruins the other point. I expect to see Tuukka Rask in net on Monday after a shakey start by Thomas.
Thomas Great Effort Not Enough Bruins Lose 1-0

Well just when we thought we where past our goal scoring struggles, its not to be. SHUT OUT by the FLORIDA PANTHERS? Tomas Vokoun stopped 40 shots including 4 shootout stops on the Bruins. The Bruins defense throughout the night was sensational only allowing 7 shots through the first 2 periods, and 23 all night. But another Tim Thomas effort wasted as the Bruins could not score. The Bruins had several chances during the game at a goal, and a few in overtime as well. Cory Stillman scored the loan goal of the game in the 4th round of the shootout to win it for the Panthers. Blake Wheeler opened up the shootout by going stick side on Vokoun who made another great stop. Tim Thomas then made a huge spectacular stop on Reinprecht knocking the puck off the line several times. Chara was chosen for the 3rd round of the shootout. I think we where all thinking big slap shot, but no he dekes to the stick side which is what each of the first 3 Bruins shooters at done. All of them of course where denied by Vokoun. So basically 2 big parts of the Bruins game are in place, the goaltending and the defense. But the scoring still remains a big question mark. Its really getting ridiculous when Tim Thomas is now 5-6-2 with a 2.05 GAA. They need to step it up Saturday night in Pitt.
Bruins Roll Past Penguins 3-0
![]() | ![]() |
Tim Thomas was lights out tonight against the defending champion Penguins. Although a strange bounce to say the least, but Thomas was able to avoid that and stop 27 pucks in the 3-0 victory. The FIRST 2 game win streak of the season! It couldnt have come at a better time as the Bruins beat Buffalo 4-2 Saturday night and took out the Pens 3-0 tonight. About a minute and a half into the second period defenseman Matt Hunwick appeared to put the puck by Marc-Andre Fluery. Matt certainly thought so as the horn was sounding and Hunwick was celebrating, but the ref had a washout signal and the game went on. On the next stoppage of play the goal was reviewed, it cleary hit the strings and the referee pointed to center ice to the crowds delight. Bruins lead 1-0. The second would end with the Bruins up 1-0 on the Pens. But 3:34 into the 3rd Daniel Paille went streaking off on a breakaway against Marc Fluery and beat Fluery to the top left corner a great shot. Bruins lead 2-0. The Bruins got there first powerplay a little after the midway point of the period, and Fluery made a amazing stop on David Krejci. Keeping the game at 2-0. A routine dump in to the zone by the Pens proved to be almost disasterous for Tim Thomas and the Bruins, as Thomas went behind the net to play the puck, the puck struck glass and took and odd hop right through the open crease and struck the post and stopped right in the crease. Thomas who was behind the net was able to dive and knock it away with his stick before the white jerseys got to it. Patrice Bergeron sealed the deal with a long empty netter his 6th goal of the season and the Bruins won 3-0, and Thomas would earn his second shutout of the season.
Alright so I ripped on Dennis Wideman last night but he played well tonight. He recorded 2 assists and a plus 2 rating. The only thing I can critize him for was blowing and edge and letting the Penguins get a 2 on 1 late in the third but Timmy bailed him out of that one. One thing I didnt like about this game tonight was the physical play. WHERE WAS IT? I dont remember one good hit all night unless you count the Stuart "hit" on Brooks Orpik. I was expecting them to be more physical tonight there werent oh well I guess, all that matters is the 2 points. Daniel Paille finally got his first goal for the Bruins. Boy did he deserve that goal though. He had so many chances since the trade for him. It was also a great shot Fluery had no chance at it. Marc-Andre Fluery was excellent in goal for the Penguins despite the loss. He made a number of a great saves on the Bruins all night long. I felt the Bruins broke out of the zone really well tonight and the last 3 games their breakout has greatly improved, they had several chances off the breakout but several denied by Fluery. Anyways nice win for the Bruins tonight and hopefully they can build on it. Nothing really to be down on about the game, was hoping for a little more offense but the defense and goaltending was so well we didnt need it. Good game boys.
Hey everyone. So basically there will always be an article about the game and what I thought about it. BRUINS Crack Down END SKID: Boston 4- Buffalo 1
Tuukka Rask and the Boston Bruins finally win. They had lost there last 3 games, and only had one goal to show for it. Mark Recchi scored the first goal of the night on the POWERPLAY??????? The Bs where 0 for there last 20 coming into Saturday night vs the Sabres. But Recchi managed to redirect Derek Morris's shot from the point, to snap the drought on the powerplay. A few minutes later again on the powerplay Mark Recchi went back to work and set up a chance for Wheeler to feed an open Chara who slapped it home from the point making it 2-0 Boston. The next goal was scored by Byron Bitz on a gift from the Buffalo defense early in the 2nd period. The Sabres Derek Roy got Buffalo on the board in the 2nd making it 3-1. But Bergeron putting on a great effort sealed the deal for the bruins as he put a nice spin move on the Buffalo defense and was able to find Sturm for a one time snap shot that put Boston up 4-1. Pominville put another on the board for the Sabres late in the 3rd but that would be it and the Bruins got a much needed 4-2 win. The bruins did indeed win and played a full 60 minute hockey game, but it was not a greatly played game by the B's. In the first period they took 3 strait penaltys, they where able to kill of all 3, but they cannot continue to give teams those kinds of chances. The Bruins took 8 minor penalty's Saturday night. 8 of them, I think are just lucky Ryan Miller was not in net for the Sabres otherwise the Bruins would have been in a lot of trouble. Daniel Paille played in his first game against Buffalo since they traded him a few weeks ago. Paille had a great effort for the Bruins, but i think his head was focused on what he wanted to do personally then on what was best for the team. He took a penalty in the 1st which he ended up getting a breakaway when he busted out of the box. The Bruins had a 3 on one up ice and the puck game to Paille on the right side and he shot it from a bad angle and was denied. He was feeling the adrenaline and shot the puck when really passing the puck again possibly back to wheeler would have been the smarter option. He also took an icing in the final seconds of the game despertly trying to bank one into the empty net from behind the red line. Paille could have easily gained the redline and had a much better chance to score. But oh well i loved the effort and energy he brought to the game last night though. The best sign from the game was that hopefully the offense has returned even without possibly there 3 top players.
"That's what we've been telling them - to relax," Boston coach Claude Julien said. "Eventually you're going to score goals. You know if you stick with it, it's going to turn."
Notes: Enroth started his first NHL game with Ryan Miller sitting the night, and Patrick Lalime the backup injured.
Stats: Rask 28 saves on 30 shots
Enroth 33 saves on 37 shots
Attendance: 17,565
